If you’re looking for an authentic slice of Mexican cuisine in Concord, CA, look no further than Tortilleria El Molino. Nestled at 1500 Monument Blvd # F-1, this vibrant eatery is not just a place to eat; it’s an experience steeped in the rich tradition of Mexican cooking. Known for their homemade tortillas, which are made fresh in-house, El Molino offers a delightful culinary journey that will leave your taste buds longing for more.

The restaurant specializes in a range of delectable dishes, with standout offerings such as the Pupusa. Imagine a thick, handmade corn tortilla, generously filled with a mixture of savory beans and gooey cheese, served alongside a tangy cabbage slaw and zesty tomato sauce for just $4.99. You can't go wrong with the Chicharron & Cheese Pupusa, where crispy fried pork rinds meet melted cheese for a flavor explosion. For those craving a bit of everything, the Pupusa Revuelta combines chicharron, beans, and cheese for a mouthwatering treat that beautifully balances textures and flavors.

El Molino also serves up breakfast burritos that are ideal for a quick and hearty meal. Choose from Chorizo & Cheese, loaded with spiced sausage, eggs, and potatoes for $9.99, or the Ranch Style burrito featuring cheese and green peppers. Each burrito is a satisfying start to your day.

The taco selection is equally impressive, featuring options like the Fish Taco with battered basa, served with a refreshing coleslaw for just $3.99, or the hearty Super Taco, packed with your choice of meat, whole beans, and fresh pico de gallo, all wrapped in a freshly made tortilla for $5.99. The flavors are bold, the ingredients fresh, and the prices are unbeatable.

While Tortilleria El Molino might not offer the plush dine-in experience some may seek, the bustling environment and cafeteria-style service add to its authentic charm. Customers have noted the cafeteria feel, where the focus clearly lies on the quality of the food rather than the decor. Several reviews highlight the cozy yet chaotic nature of the space, with often long lines proving its popularity. Diners might find themselves sharing tables or standing shoulder-to-shoulder with fellow food lovers, but that just adds to the communal atmosphere that is sometimes missing in more polished establishments.

Those who frequent El Molino rave about its delicious flavors and exceptional freshness, although a few have pointed out inconsistencies on busy weekends. One enthusiastic fan, Mike Reaves, shares his delight in the practically perfect tortillas and the flavorful carnitas, emphasizing that it’s worth a visit for the food alone. Other regulars love the tasty burritos and tacos, which they say are worth every penny. Just keep in mind the experience could be a bit noisy, as the hustle and bustle create a lively backdrop to your culinary adventure.

In summary, whether you're picking up a quick bite on your lunch break or gathering ingredients for a family fiesta at home (the fresh tortillas and meats are available to go!), Tortilleria El Molino is a must-visit in Concord. The flavors are fresh, the portions generous, and the atmosphere buzzing with energy. So grab your friends or family, and dive into an unforgettable Mexican feast that will surely become a regular stop on your culinary map!

Great green salsa. This cafeteria style restaurant and store makes their own tortillas in bulk. You can buy bags of their fresh tortillas, both corn and flour, to go. You can watch the workers stamping out loads of tortillas in the back. They also make great carnitas and other meats which can be purchased in large to-go containers to feed your family at home. If you order a burrito, I recommend asking for light onion!

The food is delicious. The staff is fast if not all that friendly. This is not a dine in place to eat. It's shabby and distressed. But for the food and the price it might be worth a quick trip. If your in the area.

The place has to be good cuz it's very crowded. Almost all the time. It is Americanized Mexican food largely, but it's definitely better than the Chipotle and other stuff you get. We go there as often as we can when we're in the area. It's a bit noisy, and no place to really sit, it's worth a try and you're likely to be back for more.

They usually have the fluffiest tortilla but yesterday was off. Very disappointed! Also, I ordered lengua it was just ok. They charge $1 more too! And, their asada tacos are terrible (or whatever they gave me)- it’s all saucy. Makes me wonder why. I do like their chicharrones tacos but yesterday was very small. I guess I won’t go on the weekends again. I went to get their menudo, sooooo disappointing!!! I guess my quest for really good menudo continues. Update: April 2025. Okay… I went a couple more times. Today is my last and final day. It’s not as good anymore.. there are so many other places to try! Never again. The only good thing is the prices.

Ate here while there for work, it was ok, for the price it was a good amount of food. It's all order at the counter. The chips and guac was good, the tamales were eh, more masa then meat and a bit dry. and They were not made with red chili which were a bit weird, not sure what it was made in.

This place has the best burritos and tacos in Concord! The torta is also good. The chips and salsa verde are my favorite. Muy sabroso! There aren't many tables to eat after you order at the counter, but the food always delivers.
